Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT), developed by Jean Kristeller, addresses mindless eating, stress-related eating, disordered eating patterns, and obesity through the application of mindfulness meditation. These workshops for health-care professionals provides intensive training in the application of MB-EAT in clinical settings.The online training emphasizes deepening your personal practice, facilitating basic mindfulness meditation, mindful eating practices and offers opportunities for clinical consultation during the program.
Informed by Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) work, and basic principles of food intake regulation, and supported by evidence from NIH-supported clinical trials MB-EAT program employs mindfulness meditation, experiential eating exercises, didactic instruction, and self-reflection to cultivate mindful awareness and a more balanced and positive relationship to eating and weight.
Throughout this training, we use demonstration, role-play, simulated exercises, and discussion to cover the themes, material, and exercises in the MB-EAT program. We also deepen our own mindfulness practice through daily meditation practice, eating meditations, body awareness and movement meditations, and a half-day silent retreat.
48 CEU's credits have been pre-approved for Dietitians, Psychologists, Counselors/MFT, Social Workers, Nurses, and related fields.

The Liberating Path of Mindful Eating - Daylong Retreat at Spirit Rock Meditation Center
February 6, 2025 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm PST with Andrea Lieberstein, MPH, RDN
The practice of mindful eating can be one doorway into the practices and path of liberation as the Buddha taught. How can the practice of mindfulness and the brahmavihāras support more joy, compassion, lovingkindness, and equanimity in relation to eating and other aspects of our lives?
Together we will explore teachings of freedom from suffering and craving in relation to food and our own lives, and you will learn foundational mindful eating practices that you can begin to use daily to transform this relationship. This workshop will also introduce research-based tools and practices to help us attune to our inner wisdom that can support wise and beneficial choices with compassion and clear seeing.
This daylong retreat is being offered in person at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, CA and online by Zoom

Mindfulness-Based Yoga Instruction
Andrea teaches Mindful Flow yoga classes and offers private instruction with special rates for groups and families. She has been teaching Mindfulness-Based Yoga since 1993. She is certified in Integrative Yoga Therapy and a registered instructor with Yoga Alliance.
